Principal's Message

September  2019

Hello Montclair Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the start of the 2019-2020 School Year! I am very excited to be here as the Principal of your child’s school!  It was good to meet several of you on the first day.  I have also had the opportunity to chat with many students the past couple of weeks and judging from the stories I have heard, it is obvious that students thoroughly enjoyed their summertime with family and friends.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to families who are new to Montclair.  You will find, as I have already, very friendly and helpful students and staff.  Our teaching staff have a wealth of knowledge, experience, creativity and commitment and are looking forward to working with your children.

Many people worked really hard for several weeks to get Montclair ready for September and I would like to take a moment to acknowledge them.  A huge “Thank You” goes to Mr. Jowett and Mr. Kostyk, the Custodial Staff, as well as Mr. Vidakovik, Relief Caretaker, for working diligently for several weeks to make sure that the whole school was thoroughly cleaned and polished!  Next, a big “Thank You” goes to the office staff, Senior Secretary Mrs. Dietrich and her team, Mrs. Cabral and Mrs. Leacock, for their wonderful organizational skills, tackling the mountains of paperwork needed for start-up, registering new students and keeping me up to date on things I need to do! Thank you for being so efficient!  To the teaching staff: Ontario Certified Teachers, Early Childhood Educators and Educational Assistants: Many thanks to you for spending countless hours during August setting up, getting materials ready and making your rooms a fun, welcoming space for students! Your efforts look amazing!  Finally, I say “Merci beaucoup” to Mrs. Solomon-Dias, our Vice Principal, for helping me settle in!  I am really looking forward to working with her and all of our staff!

All Montclair students and families are invited to the annual Open House on Wednesday, September 25.  We have decided to have a corn roast, as this was quite a hit last year.  The Corn Roast will start at 6:00 p.m.  Corn on the cob is to be pre-ordered through School Cash Online. The cost to families has been subsidized, allowing us to offer a cob of corn for $2.  We hope to have many of you come out to enjoy the food, reconnect with other families and touch base with school staff. Classrooms will be open from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and teachers will speak briefly about their programs to give you a sense of what your child will be learning during the course of the year.  I look forward to meeting many of you at the Corn Roast on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.
